What is the best method for hard drive recovery?

I recently short circuited my hard drive, I took it to a local shop where they confirmed that it had been short circuited. He recommended that I purchase the same hard drive where he can swap the two physical drives to allow me to extract the data. I have seen adverts for hard drive recovery and was wandering which option would people recommend for me to do.
if i give it to a specalist how do you get the data back

just get a new one–they are pretty cheap now

hard drive crashed, no recovery disks but I have the XP COA sticker on the computer, what can I do?

It was a used computer purchase and I didn’t back up the hard drive in time. The computer has the XP COA sticker, how do I use that with a new hard drive, should I purchase one?

as long as you have the license code you just need to borrow a disc, it does have to be the same version. you can try and contact microsoft to get a copy but they don’t tend to be real helpful.

How do I save my files to the D:/Recovery Hard drive?

I have Vista Home Premium and am going to reinstall my system.
I have about 5GB free of recovery memory.
How can I put my most important files in there, so I can get them back when I reinstall windows?

Best reply by masteroflul:

lol you don’t. you can’t touch that partition at all. just burn your files to a dvd, retard.
