I recently fried my hard drive. Im thinking about using a data recovery center. The drive i need recovered has alot of unpublished and un-copyrighted material that i have created such as screenplays and manuscripts. Im worried that the company having access to these will steal them during the recovery and with no backup on my part i would have no way to dispute that they were mine in court if i needed to sue cause someone uses it. Are my worries valid ?, any way to deal with this situation.

I honestly doubt a group of computer nerds in clean suits are going to care about some scripts on a hard drive, unless they are particularly erotic. They make a lot of money and therefore it probably isn’t worth going to jail to steal something off the drive.

Not very versed in this subject. The only thing I’ve been told is that it can cost anywhere from $50 to nearly $2000 dollars to get data recovered from a hard drive.

What’s a good place to go for hard drive data recovery?

OMG i can’t believe it i accidentally recovered my c drive ( c drive starts all over) meaning that all the images i had are GONE!!!! all my previous files are gone for my pics and my documents!!! can anybody help me???? Is there a method or program that can help m recover those lost images PLZZZZ i need those pics back!!!

you might need windows recover if you have windows on your computer or if it does not boot windows then it is lost.

I’m curious as to why most of the hard drives my employer sends out to Ontrack comes back with unrecoverable data. With a high evaluation cost it seems easier just to charge a quick $100 and say it can’t be recovered than actually attempting to recover data.

For Data Recovery we had the same problem, Ontrack charges a fortune when a company like eProvided can do it for 1/4 the cost if a success.

How many of you have used Ontrack Data Recovery to successfully retrieve data from a bad hard drive?

Could you please tell me where i could find a FULL version of the software instead of the the limited versions which don’t let you save your recovered files?
